For the 3rd year, the Community Outreach Classes at Veterans Park School have sponsored a Toys for Tots Drive.  Rosemary Jorge, Community Outreach teacher, explained that the classes request that staff and students donate new, unwrapped toys for the drive.

On Sunday, December 17th the Ludlow Rotary Club will host the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus to collect toys throughout the town.  Veterans Park staff and students were invited to join in on the fun festivities at the final stop, the Ludlow Town Hall, to turn in their donated toys that will then be given to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program of Western Mass, and ultimately distributed to children in need, this holiday season.

Melissa Knowles, Veterans Park Principal, shared that this is just one more example of the generosity of the Veterans Park family. “Throughout the year I am always so proud and amazed at the kindness of our staff, students and families.  They always go above and beyond to help those less fortunate, to bring a smile to someone’s face and to make a positive difference in the lives of others who are in need.”

4th grader, Dominic Martins, was eager to share, "I brought in three new toys.  I like donating because it feels good to make kids happy at Christmas.”

"Last year I went to the fire station to see the parade and drop off a new toy;  I hope I can go again this year,” said 4th grader Wiktor Tylec. “I like to go to the parade because I get to see a lot of my friends there and it feels good to give back.”

Thanks to the generosity of the Veterans Park School family several children throughout Western Mass will now have the gift of a special toy during the holidays;  and all who donated will experience the true meaning of giving. As Catherine Pulsifer once said, “Giving to others will not take away from what you have but will in fact add to your life.”
