On Wednesday, June 7th, Veterans Park School held their 5th annual Family Arts Night and Book Fair. Student artwork from throughout the school year was displayed for visitors and families to admire. Families also had the opportunity to attend the PTO sponsored book fair.

Much to the delight of those in attendance, the Veterans Park Chorus performed their final concert of the year and received their choral achievement awards. This year’s theme was about not giving up when things get tough.  Nicole Sousa, Veterans Park Music Teacher, led the chorus in singing Always Sing by Raelynn, Count on me by Bruno Mars, Try Everything from the movie Zootopia- by Shakira and It's a Jungle Out Here by Philip Lawrence from the movie RIO 2.

Rebecca Hardick, Veterans Park Art Teacher, proudly displayed student pottery along with 2-dimensional artwork for all to enjoy. Families were very impressed as they entered the gymnasium that was transformed into an art gallery for the night.

During the evening families and visitors also enjoyed a picnic dinner in the courtyard complete with the special of the night--- Veterans Park hot dogs! According to Principal, Melissa Knowles, the night was a success, “This is one of my favorite school events of the year, allowing the Vets Park family to come together and celebrate the arts in our school.  Our gymnasium was filled with beautiful artwork created by our students and the chorus filled the air. Mrs. Hardick and Ms. Sousa once again went above and beyond to make this night memorable for everyone who attended.”

We welcome you to view the video below of photos submitted by Mrs. Hardick and Ms. Sousa from this fun-filled family evening.
