On October 25th six Veterans Park students attended the Ludlow High School varsity girls soccer game as part of the PBIS reward system implemented at school. The students cashed in their cub coins to attend the game and sit on the sidelines with the soccer team. A special night, that is sure to be a resplendent memory for years to come for Calleigh Foley, Sophia Scyocurka, Ava Moutinho, Jordan Placzek, Brianna Scibelli and Emma Sadler.
Mrs. Melissa Knowles, Veteran Park Principal stated, “This opportunity is a win, win-- our students experience the thrill of being part of a varsity soccer team and the players have the opportunity to positively inspire and influence younger students.”
The PBIS Rewards Program (implemented in 2012) is based on students displaying PRIDE both when at school and outside of school. The purpose of this school-wide PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm. When a student displays these qualities they earn cub coins which then can be cashed in for various rewards on a monthly basis.
